The following post will detail the broad range of possible genre we could do our music video on. We created this post so we could easily see and review all the music genres. It also makes it easier to see what would fit our demographic and psychographics audiences.

Indie - From the word Independent, This genre is
largely based on a do it your self-culture. The bands are normally signed to
low budget small labels.

Punk – On loud, fast guitar matched with vocals
which can often just be shouting.

Dance
a.
Dubstep- Originating from experimental garage
music, dubstep gives a darker feel and is more dependent of the bass with
repeat bass drops throughout.

Garage- Is a more polished version of House
music. This sub-genre of dance music includes gospel influenced piano riffs and
female voices.
c.
Jungle- Jungle music incorporates reggae music
with a dance beat.

Rap- Spoken word to a rhythm often backed by a
simple drum beat.
4.
Jazz- Is a large music genre which takes it
influences from European and African music traditions.
5.
Pop- From the word popular is just genre that
takes influences from all other genres and puts them into a single format. The
songs are usually simple catchy repeated riffs.

Reggae- Started in Jamaica it is played on a
slow off beat.

Rock

Death Metal- A sub-genre of rock, which uses
harsh guitars and vocals. It includes multiple tempo changes.

Glam Rock- The use of flamboyant and outrageous
clothes and on stage visuals made glam rock its own genre. The primary aim of
glam rock was stage man ship.
c. Soft Rock- Soft rock songs generally tend to focus on themes like love, everyday life and relationships. The genre tends to make heavy use of acoustic guitars, pianos, synthesizers and sometimes saxophones. The electric guitars in soft rock are normally faint and high-pitched.

We chose the Rock genre as it is
generalised as homemade and do it yourself. As we didn’t have large budget for
the video, we believed this would be easier to achieve and look better. The
genre is also associated with young new groups so as majority of our cast would
be 17/18 this would make a more realistic video that stays true to the genre.
