Magazine Advert

This is our final magazine advert. Due to the research that we did with the Kings Of Leon advert I used that idea of keeping all of the text different sizes, keeping little text on there so people will be more inclined to read the information, Keeping the same kind of colouring across the board except the OUT NOW text which needs to stand out more to inform people that the album is now available to download and purchase. I kept the text the same throughout the whole advert due to the fact that all of the information is just as vital as the rest of the advert so changing the text for some things may draw attention to a less important section of the advert, that is why i used colour instead. Making all of the text different sizes was a different technique because all of the larger text is more important, then the sizes decrease in relation to importance.

The picture in the background was contemplated several times, I was thinking about using the album cover as the advert instead, but i thought this picture stood out more in a more subtle way, and it seems more realistic to fit with the genre of the song and album. I inverted the original picture to make it more adherent to the colour scheme of the album and to make it a more subtle image, i also added in the smoke in photoshop to make it look a bit more 'rock and roll' and make the image more appealing than just a guitar. I added in the iTunes logo to make it more authentic to the download side, along side the 'available for download now' text. Also added for authenticity was the quote and stars rating from 'Kerrang' a music channel. I thought this with the rest of the bottom section brought the whole advert together making it look rather professional and still in keeping with the ideas from the actual CD case.

We would want this kind of magazine advert to be featured in magazines like 'NME' and 'Kerrang' and other such rock/indie magazines because that is the same genre as Miles Kane so the advert would make sense here, unlike a magazine such as 'Heat' where it doesn't make any sense being in this kind of 'gossip' magazine due to the nature of the song/advert being music and rock.
