QR Codes

As the use of smart phones increases, a rapid amount of QR codes are appearing both online and in real life on posters and leaflets. QR codes pretty much are a type of bar code which allows information or a set of commands to be transferred to a handheld device. They are also quite quirky due to their unconventional nature and the requirement of a smart phone to use them. They are appearing increasingly in advertising campaigns as they can give a whole other dimension to a plain bit of paper. I have created a QR code for Give up by Miles Kane's page which we can use in any of our future advertising campaigns.

Most Barcode scanner apps will pick this up and take you to Give up by Miles Kane's Itunes page. With the QR code we can change to any colours as long as there is one dominate (darker) and one passive (lighter) colour. For example below. The greater the contrast between the colours the easier it is for scanners to read them. However changing the colour will allow the codes to fit more approiatly with any adverts we produce.

In reference to changing the colours of the QR code. If you change too many of them sure it works but people might not recognise it as a QR code. So i have chosen to only change the top colour and keep the background white. This has 2 advantages, 1 being it will match any color scheme we choose for our albums theme and 2 white is the lightest colour possible so we can use any colour for a dominate one. If you look below you'll see that just changing the dominate colour makes the QR code easier to recognise and easier to scan.

A change in Songs

After trying to film our music video we felt there was an element that was missing. The song uses mainly an acoustic guitar, which was we had previously tried to overlook as our main actor cannot play a guitar; however we realised it was essential for that to be a part of our video. Originally we tried to fake Robbie playing the guitar so that he pretended,  however it began to look very unprofessional, therefore we changed our idea to a different song with a more inventive idea but along the same lines. We introduced new characters etc to incorporate the lack of guitar talent and have decided to use the song Give up by Miles Kane. We feel that this is a more energetic song choice and in changing the song feel that it will create a better music video.
