Ancillary Task - DigiPak

As I was allocated the task of editing the film I decided that I should also undertake the task of doing the digipak due to the fact that I could use any screen shots from the film and I have the most in depth knowledge of the program Photoshop. This is our initial design for our digipak CD case, taking the traditional 6 panel CD case with three CD slots for the actual Album CD and for two other added bonus CD's due to the fact that the digipak is more frequently used for special edition CD's in todays industry.

Due to the constant influences of England, having an english artist, english flag in the performance scenes of our film etc, i decided to make the back and front cover of the CD case to do with London. Both pictures were my own personal photography that i edited myself. Simplistic editing was key for this, rock and roll is a very simple sound, no fakery just a man and his guitar. On the back cover I added the barcode to make it look as realistic as possible, and I also added our QR code on the back giving the people who buy the special edition album the chance to get some more bonuses from buying it, scanning it would give you a freebie of sort, either a free album mobile phone background or a discount of sorts. I also added in the small text including our media companies name and saying that the album was produced by Astral Media.
Moving onto the lyric book panel, firstly again I used my own photography for all of the pictures, i wanted to keep the theme of the deep dark colours throughout the whole case, due to his mindset, I wanted it to represent the lyrics, that he's quite a dark and deep lyrics writer, one of the main reasons why the lyric book is consistently black. Also I wanted it to be quite minimalistic, as Dave (my front man in the film) and Miles Kane himself are both smokers i thought i would use that picture, and the added fact that it's a very rock and roll thing to do, smoke. With the 3 CD spaces i wanted to make them more video orientated, taking some screen shots, giving little hints to the buyer of what the album is like and what the video is like. I wanted the most colourful one in the middle and have the case like a framing technique, having the main reason for buying the album being in the middle, surrounded by the added extras. I think adding in the extra DVD's was a good idea because it's a special edition Album I feel like the audience should get a little more for the money they would be paying for the album.
